The underlying principle in the Water-Energy nexus is that it takes
water to produce energy, and vice versa. As a result, there are many
opportunities for water treatment in Oil and Gas facilities – both
upstream and downstream. They include water treatment for steam
generators, pilot plants, produced water treatment, temporary mobile
water treatment until wells are proven, and potable water treatment for
remote camps.
Culligan and
Zilio S.p.A have provided Acqualatina S.p.A. with Italy's first
large scale water treatment system designed to remove Arsenic and
other contaminants from municipal water supplies. The Culligan
system, which is the largest installed in Italy for the
potabilization of water, and one of the largest municipal systems
in Europe designed for Arsenic removal, was inaugurated on January
31 in Aprilia, a town in the province of Latina in the Lazio region
of Italy. It will enable residents to draw potable water from
municipal waterworks in compliance with new Italian regulations
that took effect at the beginning of January.

Businesses across all industries are establishing sustainability programs, which have resulted in the development of plant metrics on water and energy use. Because these metrics—and their associated costs—are often part of corporate sustainability goals, the demand is growing for industrial water treatment solutions that can reduce overall water consumption in various plant operations.
The importance of water quality cannot be overlooked in the food and beverage industry, which is why many manufacturers continually make investments in personnel and equipment to lower the risk of contamination and improve product quality. However, the task of ensuring the water that is used in the manufacture of products is high quality can still seem daunting. Fortunately electronic monitoring capabilities can provide real-time water quality data, reducing the burden on plant staff. In fact, plant managers can be instantly alerted when an error situation occurs; either via an alarm or, in some instances, by an alert that is sent to their handheld device.
Comprehensive RO Systems Offering Meets Widest Range of Customers’ Water Quality, Quantity Needs
Many cities and states across North America have begun implementing water use restrictions as they strive to address water conservation and protection goals based on critical water shortages. Commercial businesses located in these areas must adhere to mandatory water cutbacks

Five Key Considerations to Choosing the Best Water Treatment System for Your Plant
With the latest advances in technology application, the power industry may have more options than it did in the past for treating wastewater. It’s a great time to rethink the traditional approaches for water treatment or reuse and look at new, cost-effective alternatives.
Proper planning is the key to any successful project, especially when it comes to designing a water purification system. Let’s say you’re a plumbing engineer for a major manufacturer that relies on purified water for part of its assembly process. What would happen if that water treatment system was to fail? Are you willing to shut down a $35,000 per hour paint line in a production facility because your water treatment system isn’t working properly? Would the entire plant be at risk for shutting down? What kind of service is your water treatment provider willing to commit to? The implications of ceasing production might cost the plant hundreds of thousands of dollars in downtime and delayed orders.
